THE TYLER BROTHERS
Although they have a team behind them Richard and Jonathan do all of the primary design work for their Mens’ Fashion Accessories Collection. Interestingly neither of them have actually come from traditional backgrounds – both achieved BA Hons Degrees in Business Studies at the University of Hertfordshire. Before joining the family business both worked in the creative marketing industry. Jonathan for a private healthcare company and Richard for Hilton Hotels and Virgin Records Marketing Agencies.
Richard Tyler is the older brother, born in 1978.
Richard’s passions in life clearly lie with his family, friends, music, art, fashion and architecture. These passions are reflected in many of the designs he comes up with for TYLER & TYLER. When he is not busy working on the latest collection Richard can be found most weekends behind his drum kit. Richard loves the adrenaline of performing live and gigs all over the UK – he has even played on the main stage of the world famous Cavern Club Liverpool. Art and design has always been very important to Richard. He enjoys whiling away the hours looking around art galleries. Despite visiting galleries all over Europe and America, Richard’s favourite gallery is the BMAG in his home city of Birmingham, famous for its fantastic collection of Pre-Raphaelites.
Whenever on his travels Richard loves visiting places of great architecture. He enjoys modern architecture with its geometric shapes and bold lines, but particularly likes older architecture. He is very interested in Gothic architecture, mainly due to its usual large scale and darkness. He is fascinated by the level of detail that can be found in buildings of this style. Richard’s favourite building is the La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, for its incredible mix of modern and gothic design.
Jonathan Tyler is the younger brother, born in 1980.
Like Richard, Jonathan’s family and friends are very important to him. His interests lie in sports cars, both vintage and modern and fashion.
When not working on TYLER & TYLER with Richard, Jonathan enjoys spending time lovingly restoring his Victorian House with his wife Elizabeth. His interest in Victorian design has heavily influenced a number of designs in the TYLER & TYLER collection. Jonathan can often be found releasing the stresses of the day behind the wheel of his beloved Lotus. Many weekends also see him taking part in Rallies with his Art Deco Vintage Rosengart in Europe and the UK. He also often has the pleasure of driving two vintage Bugatti cars.
The Future
The brothers never stop moving the brand forward and are constantly coming up with new product designs and product lines to add to their Men's Fashion Accessories Collection.
“We believe strongly in not being like sheep – we pay little attention to what our competition are doing. By constantly moving forward we keep the collection fresh, on-trend and stay ahead of the competition. We truly feel that we are offering the world of men's fashion accessories something new and different”. Richard Tyler
